ITS Maintenance on Nov 2-3, 2019

ITS Maintenance

The following maintenance work will be carried out on Nov 2-3 2019 (this Saturday and Sunday) and the major services to be affected include:

1. All in-house developed applications under HKU Portal: Sun 7:00 am – 10:00 am
2. WiFi service in the Main Campus, Sassoon Road Campus, Prince Philip Dental Hospital (PPDH), Kennedy Town Centre (KTC) and CyperPort: Sun 7:00 am – 10:00 am
3. Access to HKU Portal by staff, webmail system and student email service: Sun 8:00 am – noon
4. Oracle Financials System: Sun 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Details of the maintenance work are tabulated below and please do not access these services during the affected periods:

Nov 2, 2019 (Sat) 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm Adobe Connect server for system patching The Adobe Connect web conferencing service will be suspended.
Nov 2-3, 2019 (Sat - Sun) 10:00 pm (Sat) - 7:00 am (Sun) Convene Meeting System for system patching Convene Meeting System will be suspended.
11:00 pm (Sat) - 1:00 am (Sun) Upgrade of Mobile Payment for Department Service uLock@HKU and HKU uPay will be temporarily unavailable for use.
Nov 3, 2019 (Sun) 7:00 am - 10:00 am Central servers (hkuap.hku.hk and uisdbm.hku.hk) supporting various in-house applications for OS patching

All in-house developed applications under HKU Portal (note: applications under Human Capital Management System (HCMS) and Student Information System (SIS) will NOT be affected).

WiFi controllers for system patching WiFi connectivity in some buildings in the Main Campus, Sassoon Road Campus (including HKU departments in the Queen Mary Hospital), PPDH, KTC and Cyberport may experience one interruption of 1-2 minutes.
8:00 am - noon Central email servers supporting webmail (webmail.hku.hk), gateway for outgoing email (mail7.hku.hk), graduate.hku.hk email service and HKU mailing lists (@listserv.hku.hk) for patch update Each of the affected servers will experience an interruption of 10 minutes.
Servers supporting Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) System for OS patching CAFM system will be suspended.
ePortfolio system for OS patching Access to e-Portfolio System will experience a 15-minute interruption.
Access to HKU Portal by staff, student email service (@connect.hku.hk), HK Access Federation (HKAF) (affecting Libraries’ authentication service and access to MATLAB service), booking of study rooms in the Chi Wah Learning Commons for OS patching, HKU Cost Allocation Guidelines (HKUCAG) and applications running on hkuesd.hku.hk. There will be an interruption of 10 minutes to each of the affected services.
  9:00 am - 1:00 pm Upgrade of the Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) software. Access to the DLP management server will be temporarily suspended.
  10:00 am - 2:00 pm Servers supporting Oracle Financials System for OS patching. The Oracle Financials System will be suspended.
  noon - 2:00 pm Web servers (www.hku.hk, www4.hku.hk, intraweb.hku.hk, www.cpao.hku.hk, hkucms.hku.hk, www.hkusu.hku.hk, web.hku.hk and vss.hku.hk) for OS patching There will be an interruption of 10 minutes to each of the said web servers.
