2017/07/23 06:00 (Sunday) - 2017/07/23 18:00 (Sunday) - Moodle Learning Management System upgrade

Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) will undergo system upgrade from version 3.0.3+ to 3.2.3. Access to Moodle will be suspended during the upgrade period of time:

Date: July 23, 2017, Sunday
Time: 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

The new features and improvements of Moodle 3.2.3 are described in the release notes (https://docs.moodle.org/dev/Moodle_3.2_release_notes).

Teachers are recommended not to set the activity (Example: Assignment, Quiz) due date to 23 July 2017. For any enquiries, please send email to eLearningTeam@hku.hk .

2017/07/08 23:00 (Saturday) - 2017/07/09 16:00 (Sunday) - Maintenance of Cisco IP phone system (with phone number 3917xxxx)

We will carry out a necessary upgrade of the Cisco IP phone system in the University (phone numbers start with 3917, around 5,000 in total) on July 8-9, 2017. The service of all IP phones will be interrupted during the upgrade in the following period-
Date: July 8 - 9, 2017 (Saturday - Sunday)
Time: 11:00 pm (July 8) to 4:00 pm (July 9)

The connectivity of all IP phones will be affected and colleagues may not be able to receive incoming calls or make outgoing calls during the upgrade. The service of all IP phones will be resumed by July 9, 2017 NOON and the voicemail will be resumed by 4:00 pm on the same date.

The Lecture Capture Service (LCS) powered by the Panopto system supports our teachers and students to do video recording and editing, and viewing through Moodle courses.

To enhance the security protection of Panopto system, there will be a planned maintenance of the system in the following period during which all access to Panopto service will be suspended:

2017/04/08 23:00 (Saturday) - 2017/04/23 07:00 (Sunday) - Maintenance of IP phone system

Dear colleagues

To prepare for an upcoming major upgrade of the entire IP phone system, all IP phones being in use in the University (phone numbers start with 3917, around 4,500 in total) will undergo a firmware upgrade during 3 weekends in April 2017. The maintenance schedule is listed below-

Weekend 1: 8/4/2017, Saturday 11:00pm to 9/4/2017, Sunday 7:00am
Weekend 2: 15/4/2017, Saturday 11:00pm to 16/4/2017, Sunday 7:00am
Weekend 3: 22/4/2017, Saturday 11:00pm to 23/4/2017, Sunday 7:00am

During this firmware upgrade, each IP phone will experience a short service interruption of not more than 20 minutes. Colleagues please do not use their IP phone and unplug their phone sets from the network port during the above mentioned upgrade periods.

In case your department is operating 24-hour hotline support service using IP phones, please contact me at 3917 7973 or send an email to group-its-uc-team@hku.hk to let us know your hotline number. We shall make arrangement with your department to upgrade the phone sets separately.
