In summary, Information Technology Services (ITS) gained traction in its strategy and work in transforming ITS from an IT service provisioning and management agent to becoming a prime mover of the University in wide adoption of modernized digital solutions for creating new values, improving efficiency and gaining competitiveness in its mission as a leading global university.
The important IT services and operations for supporting the University’s academic activities continued to improve in providing a safe IT environment for work and studies, enlarging the scope of e-Learning support, and fostering collaborations with renowned research community in high-performance computing.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) showed the good performance levels in the aspects of service availability, information security protection and facility ageing conditions. The overall user satisfactions on different areas of the central IT services had reached the highest (or close to the highest) in 2018/19. More resource was apportioned for Transformative and Innovation Initiatives for providing bigger drives to generate new values and efficiency gains for the University’s operations. These Initiatives included the implementation of the University-wide Information Security and Data Management (ISDM) policy and the adoption of a range of emerging technologies of the Industry 4.0 era in the central IT services. The efficiency gained enables us to accomplish the successful implementation of a long list of development projects on the University’s campus-wide IT facilities and mission-critical business systems. Please refer to the Report for more details.
ITS reached its 50th anniversary by end of 2019. It would certainly continue its contributions to the success of the University in its mission as a world-class institution. In this regard, I would like to express my special thanks to all users for their support and request them to continue providing us their valuable input for continuous betterment of the University’s IT-rich digital work environment.
