Upgrade of Classroom Projectors

ITS is working to improve the teaching and learning experience in the centrally administered classrooms.

By following the AV Standards (AVS), one of the five SMARTER@HKU IT developments, we upgraded the projection system in 17 classrooms in the Centennial Campus in this summer.

Under this year’s upgrade project, 30 laser projectors were installed to replace the original ones which used lamps as the lighting source.  Compared with the traditional lamp projector, the new laser projectors are more durable (i.e. lamp and air filter can last for 20,000 service hours instead of 2,000 hours).  Also, the laser projectors have wider color range and higher contrast.  Their life expectancy is uplifted to up to 5 years providing better image quality.
