Act Now if You Are Using Windows Vista PCs

Microsoft’s support for Windows Vista ended on April 11, 2017.

Since security and technical updates for Windows Vista are no longer be available, use of Windows Vista PCs after this date will inevitably expose the University’s network environment to serious risks of network/system intrusions. To mitigate such cyber-security risks, please ensure all Windows Vista PCs, if there is any, be either upgraded to a newer version of Windows or removed from the campus network by July 31, 2017 the latest.  Request for exemption will not be considered except for very exceptional circumstances in which extra security measures could be implemented by the PC owner.

For departments subscribed to the Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions through ITS, they are eligible to upgrade any of its PCs to the latest versions of Windows.  Please visit http://www.its.hku.hk/services/procurement/software/license#microsoft for more information.    If purchase of new PCs is needed, please refer to our tender for desktop/notebook PCs (Tender No. 32185) under HKU Portal (type “tender” in the Search field and click the link “Tender Prices”).
