Data Leakage Prevention (“DLP”) User Compliance Declaration

The DLP Project, started in 2014, is an initiative of the University to provide departments and individual staff members an effective means to protect data stored in USB Portable Storage Devices for compliance with Data Protection Principle 4 (“DPP4”) of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

Installation of the DLP software on Windows-based staff PCs that are compatible with the software is mandatory. The University has endorsed a declaration scheme for registering users’ compliance with DPP4 since December 2014 under the DLP Project.  All University staff members are required to declare their agreement to the Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) compliance requirements once a year to confirm they understand and comply with the requirements.

A new cycle of declaration has begun in January 2016.  Colleagues will see the declaration page when they login to HKU Portal if their last user compliance declaration was made 365 days ago.  They are requested to complete the declaration for a new 12-month period in accordance with the above mentioned requirements.  Please visit the DLP website at https://intraweb.hku.hk/reserved_2/dlp-project/psd/psd-compliance-declaration-annex.html for more details.
