To provide staff members and students with a better understanding of how teaching and learning can be supported by the use of technologies, the eLearning Pedagogical Support Unit (EPSU) and Information Technology Services (ITS) jointly organized a two-day Teaching and Learning Showcase on February 11 and 12, 2014. More than 150 colleagues and students visited the booths in both Centennial Campus and Main Campus.
In the Showcase, the following services were demonstrated and valuable suggestions were received from the visitors:
- EPSU services and support
- Mobile access to Moodle learning management system
- Mobile access to Panopto lecture capture and viewing of recordings
- High definition video conferencing and access via mobile devices
During the event, professional colleagues from EPSU introduced their services in promoting teaching and learning with technologies on the pedagogical side. On technical side, eLearning team of ITS demonstrated how users can facilitate teaching and learning using Moodle and Panopto through laptop and mobile devices. Director of ITS was also there and met with colleagues and students for collecting feedback on IT services directly from users.
In support of the rollout of the Panopto video + PC capture service for students in a number of the Chi Wah Learning Commons study rooms, two post-showcase introductory courses were conducted following the Showcase on February 13 and 14, 2014. Students learned how to use Panopto to record video and PC sources and share recordings with others when collaborating.
