HKU Connect Email Service for Current Students

The HKU Connect Email Service for students is a service outsourced to Google.  The launching of the service has been carried out in phases.  The first and second phases were completed.  Each new student or graduate will be given a HKU Connect email account. 

We are now in Phase 3 of the launch.  In this Phase, we extend the HKU Connect Email Service to all current students who are now using the University’s in-house email service.  These students will receive an email inviting them to migrate to HKU Connect. Upon receipt of the email, students may opt-in the HKU Connect Email Service through a simple opt-in registration at HKU Portal (type "opt in" in the Search field > click the link "HKU Connect Opt-in for Student" or navigate through the menu item Campus Information Services > Central IT Services > HKU Connect Opt-in for Student).

 

Benefits of HKU Connect Email Service

The HKU Connect Email Service offers 30GB of disk quota, which is much larger than the 1GB disk quota provided by the in-house email system. Students can also enjoy other services, such as documents sharing and Google Sites, provided by Google.  

Another benefit is that students can retain their email addresses PortalUID@connect.hku.hk after graduation. Current students are strongly encouraged to opt in the HKU Connect Email Service to enjoy the benefits that it brings.
