Running X Applications through HKUWIN using eXcursion

We are pleased to announce that you can now run X Window applications using the program eXcursion, which has been installed on all centrally managed LAN file-servers and the Windows NT Workstation Laboratory (Room RR-101). This provides you the facility to display X Window output for applications running on remote hosts.

The X Window system, a network-based window system, supports the X window-based client applications communicating with an X Server.  The X Server manages the input devices (keyboard, mouse, etc.) and output device (screen) of a workstation. The X applications (clients) and an X Server (serving the clients' requests for input and output) can run on different computers.

The eXcursion software is an X server running on Windows 95 or Windows NT PC and is compatible with version 11, release 6 of the X Window System.

The eXcursion software can be accessed through the HKUWIN interface by double clicking on the icon   in the HKUWIN for Windows 95 for PCs connected to the centrally managed LAN file-servers, or PCs running Windows NT Workstation in Room RR-101.
