GCG/SeqWEB Programs Migrated to the BIOINFO Server

    1. GCG/SeqWEB Software Migrated to the BIOINFO system
    2. Up-to-date databanks accessible by GCG/SeqWEB on the BIOINFO system
    3. Re-registration of SeqWEB Account

1. GCG/SeqWEB Software Migrated to the BIOINFO system

We are pleased to announce that the GCG/SeqWEB software packages have been successfully migrated from the HKUCC system to the BIOINFO systems by mid-June 2005.  This migration was the last step of Computer Centre in consolidating the different bioinformatics software on the high performance BIOINFO server.  This migration was transparent to our SeqWEB users except that they would find the system response faster in using the SeqWEB programs at http://seqweb.hku.hk/.

2. Up-to-date databanks accessible by GCG/SeqWEB on the BIOINFO system

Besides the newly installed GCG/SeqWEB software packages, the BIOINFO system also provides other popular bioinformatics software packages (e.g. SRS, EMBOSS) and many up-to-date databanks (e.g. GenBank, EMBL, Genpept, PIR, NRL_3D, Swiss-Prot, PROSITE, etc).  These databanks are now also indexed in GCG format for access by the GCG/SeqWEB programs.

3. Re-registration of the SeqWEB Account

As a result of the change of system platform for running SeqWEB and the drastic increase in license cost of the software, existing SeqWEB users are required to re-register their SeqWEB accounts when they have to use SeqWEB on the BIOINFO system for the first time by accessing the web page http://seqweb.hku.hk/.
