How can I get a new IP address from the DHCP server?

To obtain a new IP address from the DHCP server, do the following:

For Windows 10:

Right Click Windows Start Windows start to open the context menu

  • From the menu, click “Run”, type cmd and then click OK
  • In the black Command window, type : ipconfig /release.
  • Then, type: ipconfig /renew.

For Windows 8:

Click Windows Start Windows start to open the Start screen. 

  • From the Windows Start screen, begin by typing cmd.
  • In the black Command window, type : ipconfig /release.
  • Then, type: ipconfig /renew.

For Windows 7:

Click Windows Start start button

  • Select All Programs > Accessories > Run
  • Type cmd, click OK
  • In the black Command window, type : ipconfig /release
  • Then, type: ipconfig /renew
