Why my HTML formatted bulk email does not display properly?

If you copy and paste your content from directly Microsoft Word to Bulk Email Delivery System, your content may not display properly. This is because content copy from Microsoft Word and similar products like Excel and Expression Web (formerly called Front Page) may contain non-standard proprietary HTML codes that work only in Microsoft applications and Internet Explorer browsers. The non-standard proprietary HTML tags are not compatible with the HKU Bulk Email Delivery System.

To ensure the content to be displayed properly, please do the followings:

  1. copy the email message to the PLAIN TEXT pane (sub-windows)
    • add/delete blank lines to make the paragraphs separate properly

  2. copy the PLAIN TEXT from that pane to the HTML pane
    • it will remove all the Microsoft WORD tags

  3. format the text in the HTML pane, including changing fonts.
    • usually the default font is good enough

    • Add hyperlinks & images using the built-in editor
