ITS Maintenance on Dec 3-4, 2016

The following maintenance will be carried out on Dec 3-4, 2016 (this Saturday and Sunday) and among them, the major services to be affected include:

  1. Internet service in the Main Campus: Saturday 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  2. In-house developed HKU Portal applications, Learning Environment Booking System and Banner Site and Venue Booking System: Sunday 6:00 am - 9:00 am
  3. HKU Portal (accessed by staff) and Human Capital Management System: Sunday 6:00 am - 12:00 noon
  4. uPrint service: Sunday 8:00 am - 11:00 am
  5. Network services in the Centennial Campus: Sunday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Internet firewalls for firmware upgrade

There will be two 2-minute interruptions to the HKU Internet service in the Main Campus.

Midnight - 2:00 am

Adobe Connect server for system patch

The Adobe Connect web conferencing service will be suspended.

6:00 am - 9:00 am

Central servers supporting HKU Portal applications, Learning Environment Booking System, Banner Site and Venue Booking System and Service Desk system for OS patch update

The following services will experience a 10-minute service interruption:

6:00 am - 12:00 noon

Human Capital Management System (HCMS) for disaster recovery drill

Access to HKU Portal by staff and all HCMS applications will be suspended.

8:00 am - 11:00 am

Server supporting Central printing service (uPrint) , departmental workspace using Microsoft SharePoint and central file server (f1.hku.hk) for OS patch update

uPrint and departmental workspace services will be suspended; and the central file server (f1.hku.hk) will experience a 5- minute service interruption. 

9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Spam filtering service for graduate email accounts on graduate.hku.hk for patch update

Affected graduates will not be able to check the spam quarantine email folder and receive new emails during the maintenance.

9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Internet router and core switches supporting network services in the Centennial Campus

Network services in the Centennial Campus may experience 4 short interruptions, each in less than 5 minutes.

9:30 am - 1:30 pm

eNotices System and HKU Event Management System (HKUEMS) to prepare for new feature rollout

eNotices System and HKUEMS will be interrupted intermittently, each in less than 5 minutes.
