SMARTER@HKU IT Developments

SMARTER@HKU is a programme of the University to improve efficiency of its professional services.   The IT Organization and Processes (ITOP) Task Force of the programme undertook a survey in early 2018 to identify means of work efficiency improvements in the support of IT use across the campus, and concluded that the following five central IT services could be developed for reducing the workload of IT support staff in departments:

  1. Virtual PC
  2. Cloud-based Website Content Management System
  3. Common Facilities Booking System
  4. Audio Visual Standards
  5. University-wide ITS Cloud Deployment

To help colleagues understand more about these new upcoming IT developments and how they would help to alleviate the burden of IT support in departments, two briefing sessions were conducted on 15 and 19 October 2018.  The sessions were very well received with attendance by more than 160 colleagues.   They had shown keen interests in these IT developments through interactive exchanges with ITS colleagues.  (Presentation file of the sessions is accessible (HKU Portal login needed) from the webpage http://www.its.hku.hk/SMARTER-IT).
